Woodland Heights
Located in the Greater Houston Heights area and minutes from Downtown Houston, Woodland Heights is one of the oldest luxury neighborhoods in Houston. Platted around 1906, the original neighborhood was dotted by larger, more ornate Victorian-style homes that the more modest bungalow style homes that you found throughout other Heights area neighborhoods.
Like many of Houston’s Inner Loop neighborhoods, Woodland Heights has undergone a gentrification process. New homes have been built, prices have risen, and schools like Travis Elementary, Hogg Middle School, Heights High School have steadily improved their academic reputations. However, despite these changing dynamics, Woodland Heights has kept much of its character. Much of the neighborhood benefits from historic preservation and many of the beautiful old homes still stand.
With rising prices and the influx of young professional families, the Woodland Heights has experience a boon in new retail and restaurants. Located within a short walk or short biking ride from area homes include award winning restaurants such as, the Glass Wall, Liberty Kitchen, and Sonoma Wine Bar. Just to name a few.
Bottom line, Woodland Heights is a great neighborhood for families with great urban amenities and a quick commute to Downtown Houston and the Galleria. For more information, contact me.
